New to AI? Skip the overwhelm. This is the exact path we recommend to small-business owners — four stages, each one small enough to finish and useful enough to feel.
Week 1 — Prove it to yourself
Pick one task you did today that involved writing: an email, a quote, a social post. Open ChatGPT or Claude, grab the matching prompt from our Prompt Library, and run it on that task. Don’t aim for perfect — aim for “that would’ve taken me 20 minutes.”
Week 2 — Make it a habit
Choose three prompts that fit your week and use them every time the situation comes up. The goal is reps, not breadth. By Friday you’ll have opinions about what AI is good at in your business — which is worth more than any article.
Week 3 — Add one tool
Browse the directory and pick a single tool that matches a real job: Canva Magic Studio for graphics, Descript for that podcast idea, Zapier to connect two apps you juggle daily. One tool, one week, one job.
Week 4 — Automate one thing
Find a task you did three times this month that follows the same steps every time. That’s your first automation candidate. Our guide on building your first AI agent walks you through it in plain English — or we’ll build it with you.
The rules that keep you out of trouble
- Never paste customer private data into a tool you haven’t vetted.
- AI drafts, you approve — especially anything customer-facing.
- Double-check numbers, names and claims. Confidence is not accuracy.
